Indianapolis, IN (January 23, 2012) — Through a partnership with NuVasive Spine Foundation, David Schwartz, MD, spine surgeon with OrthoIndy, and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent officials arranged for Suleman to receive charitable, extensive surgery for a rare and severe form of scoliosis.

The 12-year-old patient’s congenital scoliosis condition caused compression of her lungs, pulmonary hypertension and a 170-degree spinal curve. See picture, below of Salma pre-op.
