Pain Management (Physiatry)
A Physiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in the area of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). PM&R is a medical specialty that focuses on restoring function to people with injuries or debilitating conditions.
The board-certified physiatrists at OrthoIndy specialize in the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of all types of musculoskeletal disorders that cause pain, impairment or disability. Some patients are referred to a physiatrist because of pain, numbness, tingling sensations, weakness, fatigue or muscle cramping that cannot be explained by standard diagnostic tests. OrthoIndy physiatrists also perform EMGs and nerve conduction studies to evaluate people for problems with their muscles and nerves.
