Patient of the Month

The February Patient of the Month is James Taylor.
James Taylor is the chief executive officer for John H. Boner Community Center. The center inspires neighborhoods and partners to improve the quality of life on the near Eastside of Indianapolis, by providing tools for change and growth. Through a variety of programs offered at the center, the staff motivates and supports those who are committed to making a positive change. Not only does James work every day to help improve the quality of life in others, he too had to see help to improve his quality of life.
James was diagnosed with avascular necrosis, an injury to the hip that may limit the blood supply to the femoral head. The lack of blood may cause the surface of the bone to collapse and arthritis will result. His condition made life difficult.
“My condition progressed from an intermittent issue to one of constant pain, more limited lifestyle and fatigue over a period of three years,” said James. “Any advertent movement would cause severe pain, making it even difficult to sleep.”
Before his injury, James had an active lifestyle, such as wilderness canoe and backpacking trips. At 47 years-old, he had difficulty just climbing the stairs to his bedroom. James saw Dr. David Fisher for treatment and was pleased with his overall experience at OrthoIndy and IOH.
