Offering non-operative options for treatment
Dr. Farr offers patients a number of non-surgical treatment options, including:
Supplements may be used to help slow the loss of cartilage.
Therapy options are available and may be prescribed to help reduce pain, including bracing, weight loss, physical therapy and nerve stimulation.
Dr. Farr may prescribe an injection to improve knee pain symptoms or joint lubrication.
OrthoIndy's OrthoBiologics Program is part of the Cartilage Restoration Center that was thought of in 1995 and has grown to involve complete knee restoration including cartilage, ligaments and the meniscus. Some patients arrive for cartilage restoration, but the knee is no longer a candidate for restoration. For knee or personal reasons, a replacement is not a current choice. With orthobiologic therapies we can now offer a potential “bridge” between biologic restoration and total knee replacement.
