Dr. Fisher, an Indiana native, received his undergraduate degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1977. He attended Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis for his post-graduate studies and received his medical degree from Indiana University in 1982. Dr. Fisher interned at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis before completing his residency in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Indiana University in 1987. He then went to St. Anthony Hospital in Columbus, Ohio to perform a one-year fellowship in joint implant surgery. Dr. Fisher is affiliated with two Indianapolis-area hospitals: OrthoIndy Hospital and St.Vincent.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as a past president of OrthoIndy. Dr. Fisher is the current director of the Total Joint Center of Excellence at OrthoIndy Hospital and president of the Orthopaedic Research Foundation. Dr. Fisher has had numerous articles published in professional journals, presented at national and international medical associations and participated in many research projects and FDA trials. Dr. Fisher has been involved in research and development of total hip and knee implants and instrumentation and works with industry and professional associations to continue to monitor and study the outcomes of his procedures.
