Viscosupplements
Viscosupplements offer relief by possibly improving joint lubrication on the short term and altering the biochemical environment in the intermediate term. These are typically derivatives of a naturally occurring substance in the knee—hyaluronic acid.
Corticosteroids
Corticosteroids are drugs that act as anti-inflammatories and immunosuppressants to improve knee pain symptoms. These typically mimic the body's natural corticosteroids, but in a larger, more targeted dose at the knee joint specifically.
