Dr. Kevin O’Neill is a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon helping to set new standards in back and neck treatments and spine surgeries. With a passion for innovative solutions backed by in-depth, first-hand research, Dr. O’Neill focuses on techniques and technologies that enhance mobility, speed up recovery and redefine what’s possible in spine surgery. As the official spine surgeon for the Indiana Pacers, he brings his expertise in spine care to elite athletes, applying the same level of compassion and skill to all his patients.
An Indianapolis Monthly Top Doc honoree and recipient of the Spine Journal Editor’s Choice Award, Dr. O’Neill has authored numerous journal articles and presented research at national conferences. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society. Dr. O’Neill not only works with today’s most cutting-edge technologies like image guidance and robotic systems but also is actively involved with industry leaders in helping to shape the future of spine surgery.
He began his education by focusing on mechanical engineering, earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and his master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. O’Neill graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine before completing surgical training at two of the top programs in the world – Vanderbilt University (residency) and Washington University (fellowship). In recognition of his talent and accomplishments, Dr. O’Neill was proud to begin his career as an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Orthopedic and Neurological Surgery at Vanderbilt University before accepting his current position at OrthoIndy.
