Dr. Michael Shea attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where he was a rector scholar and graduated cum laude in 1982. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 1986. He completed a residency in orthopedic
surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1991 and a foot and ankle fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in May, 1992. Dr. Shea completed a second foot and ankle fellowship at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit in August 1992. He has also completed specialty courses in advanced foot and ankle reconstruction, orthotics and prosthetics.
Dr. Shea has given presentations on foot and ankle reconstruction, skeletal infections and diabetic foot and other topics. His articles have been published in several professional journals, including Foot and Ankle, The Foot and The Physician and Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
