Dr. Rashad Usmani is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in treatment of the hand, wrist, and elbow. His expertise is shaped by years of advanced training and a strong commitment to advancing surgical techniques and improving patient outcomes. Dr. Usmani provides treatment for acute and chronic conditions of the upper extremity, including arthritis, peripheral nerve disorders, sports injuries, and trauma.
Dr. Usmani has published book chapters in surgical textbooks and contributed to leading medical journals, including the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, Journal of Arthroplasty, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Hand Surgery, and Hand. Additionally, he enjoys treating recreational and competitive athletes at all levels. He currently serves as a hand and upper extremity consultant for the Indiana Pacers.
Dr. Usmani earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his Doctor of Medicine from IU School of Medicine in 2016. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Administrative Resident and was named Resident of the Year in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Following residency, Dr. Usmani completed an Orthopedic Surgery Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship at Beth Israel Lahey Health in Massachusetts.
