OrthoIndy’s Mission and Commitment to Orthopedic Care

An evolution in care

With over 80 physicians providing care to central Indiana residents from more than 10 convenient locations, OrthoIndy provides leading-edge bone, joint, spine and muscle care.

In 1962, Drs. Donald Blackwell and F. Robert Brueckmann founded the Blackwell and Brueckmann Partnership, which became the foundation for a unique medical practice known as OrthoIndy.

In March 2005, OrthoIndy opened its very own orthopedic hospital to better serve its patients. OrthoIndy Hospital (legally named, the Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital) is Indiana’s first specialty hospital with a direct focus on orthopedic care. OrthoIndy Hospital focuses on musculoskeletal care and complex surgical procedures including total joints (hip and knee) and spinal operations.

- Dr. Frank Kolisek elected OrthoIndy president*
- Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital opens*
- Northwest Surgery Center closes and is converted into clinic space
- Official Orthopedic Provider for Pacers and Fever
- Opened Indiana Orthopaedic Surgery Center (IOSC)*
- Dr. David Fisher elected president of OrthoIndy*
- Opened OrthoIndy Fishers*
- Practice grows to 67 physicians with two additional practices
- Northwest Surgery Center and Northwest office opened*
- Opened OrthoIndy Eagle Highlands office
- Dr. Joseph Randolph elected president of OrthoIndy*

- Consolidated two locations into one office downtown
- Blackwell/Brueckmann Corporation becomes OrthoIndy (OI)*
